So a bunch of fellas are busted down in NOLA for soliciting prostitutes, that’s not news, even for the Times-Picayune.
The news is that they were charged with "crimes against nature." What form of prostitution is against nature? Isn’t that how they usually refer down south to sex in nonstandard orifices? How can they be charged with that, assuming they didn’t actually perform any acts? What the hell kinda laws you got down there in NOLA, Bubba? Holy cannoli, batman!
Boy, those NJers really can’t seem to handle guys getting happy endings, can they?
The scene of three fatal shootings in the past three years, padlocked December 14, 2006 after a five-month undercover investigation.
A little sketchy. If you’re not accustomed to hanging in urban clubs and remaining cool and alert, I suggest you stick to the clubs in the WHITE part of town.
Xaviera Hollander, my all-time hero of sex-workers and their supporters, has weighed in on the DC Madam controversy, and as usual, I dig what she has to say.

I mentioned in a previous post that I would be interested in seeing a study of crime and adult business proximity, which is what municipalities generally use to begin the process of regulating and zoning clubs out of existence.
A kind reader passed me this study, which indicates that the crime and adult business angle, at least in this study, was flawed. As expected by anyone who frequents these clubs, naked girls or not, if these places were crime-ridden, we wouldn’t be going there either.

Now, a case still exists for the hypothesis that adult businesses cause legitimate businesses to move out of a neighborhood because they don’t want to be near or affiliated with the adult business, and that they sometimes have to sell at a loss to do so, and further, that the resulting decay can lead to declining property values and crime can move in. This I tend to believe, but I’m still looking for a study that proves it.
Another in the endless saga of small towns trying to curb the evil effects of adult businesses. http://www.petoskeynews.com/articles/2007/05/03/news/news03.txt
I don’t suppose anyone can point me toward the studies often quoted which link prostitution, drugs and other crimes to the existence of nearby adult businesses… I would love to explore this.
Nancy Nall has done some research on Ms. Palfrey’s lawyer, and apparently there’s some precedent, as a previous "pimp" also represented by this lawyer ended up suing his clients for breach of contract after having signed a no-sex document.
