Wow, these people seem to be gearing up for a major battle in the lifestyle wars. NoPornNorthampton presents a solid, well-referenced website peppered with shocked reactions from womynists as they prepare to battle Capital Video, who NPN makes no apologies for linking to the mob on its website. On the sex-positive side, they make some good points about the sad state of porn today. Why, indeed, is ATM (Ass-to-mouth) so popular? But to state that porn is educating men, well, I think that’s taking things a bit too far. Porn has always been the outlet for things you generally CAN’T (or don’t even WANT to) do with your wife or girlfriend. It’s an imagination thing. You watch the extreme scenes, you jerk off, you wipe up and move on. You don’t take these lessons out into the field. Sure, there might be a very small subculture of infection-happy freaks out there who practice amateur ATM, and slap each other around for fun, but I’m pretty sure they have issues, and making the mean, nasty, mobbed-up porn store take the curtains off the viewing booths isn’t going to change anything in your little world.
According to Commercial Appeal, Memphis is about to put a very restrictive ruling on the books. It would mean criminal background checks for adult business owners and workers (including dancers), coverage of nipples and pubic areas, and no booze in clubs. Ladies and Gentlemen, I fear we’re entering the dark ages.
Texas house and senate sent a bill to the governer for his signature that would force all strip club patrons to pay a $5 admission fee which would go toward sexual assault victims, prevention and services and indigent health care. While I have no problem funding those services, I think it’s completely unfair and unreasonable to tax strip club patrons specifically to pay for it. Doing so seems to imply that strip club patrons are somehow RESPONSIBLE for the sexual assaults. I have been to many strip clubs, and have never sexually assaulted anyone, unless you fall into the extremist belief that merely walking into a strip club is a sexual assault unto itself. I really hope someone sues Texas over this law. This HAS to be unconstitutional. Details at NBC5i.
So an undercover cop, probably bored and lazy, puts an ad on Craiglist in the Erotic Services section. The guys call, she tells them she’s 17, they show up anyway. Strike one. So a whole bunch of folks in Portland freaked out because they saw a school bus dropping a load of people off at a strip club. “What could this be?” Turns out Portland rents out their buses for events when school’s not in session. Sounds like a great way to recoup those taxpayer dollars.
The main complainer says she hopes they at least make sure to clean them afterwards. Right, because grown men leaving a strip club are so much dirtier than school kids.
